Hiking the West Coast Trail, British Columbia

Hola!

I’m a recent college-grad chica who likes to backpack (see: blog title). I’ve spent my whole life traveling and have so far lived in three countries, and visited thirteen more. I am bilingual (German and English), learning Chinese, and am a triple threat citizen (UK, USA, Germany). I have decided, somewhat ambitiously, to spend fifteen months trekking through the greater part of Asia, Africa, with some Middle-East thrown in the mix. As a unique (or stupid, depending on who you ask) twist to my future travels, I have decided to do the majority of my trip alone. Why, you might ask? There are several reasons:

1) No one else can afford, much less wants to go, on a fifteen month hiatus with me.
2) I will be able to do what I want.
3) I just really want to – plus, if men can do it…women should to! :-)

The snowboard looks deceiving. I actually fell down the mountain, and just happened to live to tell the tale! (North Carolina, USA)

So, you might ask – how can I possibly, at the ripe age of 21, be able to give anyone any real advice? To answer your question, good friend, I’d like to (once again) utilize a bullet-style format:

1) I like to travel, and I think most awkward/horrible situations can be really funny when blogged (rowing in a leaky rowboat across a half-mile inlet just to use the telephone).
2) I will do pretty much anything once.
3) I take decent pictures – just visit my blog to look at them!
4) I wont actually be able to give you any real advice whatsoever, and this blog will function only as a way for you to distract yourself from the work you really should be doing right now!

Anyway, whatever the case/reason you have found yourself reading this, I hope you find my blog interesting/funny/enlightening/downright amazing…be sure to navigate around a little bit and maybe leave me a comment or two!

    Hey Kim!
I just found your blog, and I think you are doing a wonderful thing! I'm very jealous that you will get to see so much of the world (not so jealous of the backpacking- I don't think I'd like that much, but all the more power to you!).
    Good luck! =)
