This trip was designed for a $3,500 budget (note: this was in 2005, and our average expenditure per day was between $50-100) and was just about 3 1/2 weeks in length. Encompassing eight countries, this is my version of a see-it-all trip.

Appendicitis. What a crappy, crappy illness. From what I can tell, every time someone gets it, it’s always just a $10,000 medical bill and a few weeks of tummy aches. I have to admit – I’m not much of a boater. Despite my Floridian residence, love for scuba diving, and degree in marine biology, I don’t really know how to operate a boat nor have I ever really felt like learning.
