“I just spent my vacation skiing in Europe”
Sounds glamorous? It can be, but not in my case! For those of you looking for some action, but not willing to spend the big bucks to ski in France or Spain (or heck, even in the US!), check out indoor skiing.
Indoor ski places are basically just big freezers, built to mimic a downhill slope, where you can spend the day skiing, eating, and having a good time for a relatively small amount of money. I’ve done so a couple of times in the largest indoor ski hall in the world, Alpinecenter Bottrop. A day trip from Duesseldorf or Cologne, I have paid 60 euros and ski all day, rent whatever equipment I need, eat all the food I want, and drink all the beer I want.
